Bowmag Commercial

I saw an ad for these in Bayou Bucks. I can't find anything in the pamphlet but I recall that explosive tips were illegal. Secondly if legal just how effective does the OB think these would actually be. IMO it's more gimmick than anything but I'm not good with physics.

Why not just use a rifle unless youre hunting somewhere you are not supposed to be.

This plus 1-1/4" razor blades.

There's still a report when the cartridge fires

Am I mistaken in thinking that the cartridge firing really doesn't give the bullet any extra energy.

I was thinking the same thing. Without something behind it, wouldn't much of the power transfer to reversing the velocity of the arrow shaft?

I think like poisoned tips, there is also wording in the law about exploding tips. Does this constitute explodijng tips? I would think so. It may be ok for gun season though

From the LDWF Hunting Regs brochure, page 13, green box:

It is unlawful to:
1. carry a gun including those powered by air or other means while hunting with bow
and arrow during the special bow and arrow deer season EXCEPT, it is lawful to
carry a .22 caliber rimfire pistol loaded with #12 shot (ratshot) only.
2. have in possession or use any poisoned or drugged arrow or arrows with explosive
tips.
3. hunt deer with a bow having a pull less than 30 lbs.
4. hunt with a bow or crossbow fitted with an infrared, laser sight, electrically operated
sight or device specifically designed to enhance vision at night (does NOT
include non-projecting red dot sights; RS 56:116.1.(b)(4)).

If it just went off on the way there then it probably wouldn't do much. I'm not sure how it works but I'm sure when the bullet hits the arrow sets off the primer and as long as the arrow keeps going forward it seems like it would have much more than enough intertia to keep the bullet going forward with some arse.

Hence very illegal, I somehow missed that when I searched.

I usually carry my .357 while bow hunting in case I run into a hog headed to the stand. One rushed my buddy and he put three 9mm into its head before it went down. Hope they don't bust me.
