Quickbooks makes standalone 1099 software? Let me clarify, I'm not looking to implement new accounting software, just something to get these damn forms out.

Quickbooks does not make stand alone 1099 software - it is a full accounting suite.
I suggested it intending that the whole package not be installed/used. Just load it up and use the part that does 1099's.
If you want stand alone have a look at winfiler. It will be about the same price as QB and not as easy to use. Since you have a little more than a week to finish that should count for something!
