First, Ray didn't kill anyone and that's pretty obvious.

Second, whatever other connection he had is not completely known and his actions after are obviously not laudable.

However, the way he turned his life around after that incident is certainly more than commendable. He is absolutely a role model.

On the field he is the greatest leader of men I have seen in my 20 years of watching sports and is the kind of teammate every fan and player would love to have.

Right, there was no evidence against him. We are all innocent until proven guilty, so...

If there was no evidence, what was the deal about? You totally deflected the point btw.

Fail. Two of them were in serious trouble not too long ago.

Doh! My bad. But that made my point (kind of), even I forgot Mett's 'issues' pre LSU.

I won't hold my breath waiting for thread after thread about what POS thugs they are, though.

For all those wondering who thinks RL is a role model. This is just a sample. This school of thought is less of an aberration than people think. Pretty sad, actually.

So murder = slapping a girl on the arse..... Not saying that's appropriate but it's not exactly apples to apples.

I also don't see people talk about Mett like he's the next coming of Tim Tebow off the field.

Nope, just pointing out that I sincerely doubt that some of the more outraged were similarly as outraged when a star running back currently playing for LSU somehow got out of rape charges against a minor (btw, I always thought the charges were a bit bogus, as the girl in question fully participated and the running back was just dumb for allowing it to happen, especially in a school locker room).

I forgot about Mett's getting drunk while underaged and feeling up a chick (and pleading guilty, btw).

Just saying that the outrage is often 'tailored' (to use Teo's term) to fit certain players and teams.

And, again, many players are one dumb mistake away from something just as bad happening (remember Mett getting shot at in a parking lot at LSU?).

The righteousness is overdone, IMO, that's all.

I don't see anyone claiming the same of Ray Lewis. He's usually lauded for his on-the-field (and in-the-locker-room) leadership.

As speaking of on-the-field talk, the term "Mettsiah" ring any bells?

He gave a statement to the cops the next morning that the (retarded) DA thought was misleading. Instead of standing trial for murder which he was charged with (before the police completed their investigation), he made a decision to plead to a misdemeanor obstruction of justice. So initially trying to cover for his boys ended up costing him in that he had to testify against them. But they were acquitted of the murders anyway.

Are you a scared niners fan because you sound like one?

Well there was no one for Mett to snitch on and most people have been drunk underage. But to your point Ray has stayed out of trouble since then. I don't care for him because his "leadership" feels like an act to me. He could be sincere with all of it... I'll never know.

I assure you that people pay money in a settlement for the sole purpose of avoiding further risk and the uncertainty of litigation. It doesn't necessarily mean they are "guilty" or "liable".

I don't know what Lewis did of didn't do. I'll definitely acknowledge that his retirement has been over hyped ( like a lot of things in sports), but so what? But the guy, although declining in recent years, has been great on the field. He inspires his team. The fact that he gets under the skin of southern white boys is just a bonus.

Is evidence of nothing.

Many defendants estimate the cost of defending a suit and offer that just to make a suit go away regardless of the merits it may or may not have.
