Hell no, if the service was horrific, they don't deserve shite.

I don't care either way. The guy asked if he was wrong. The short answer is no. My two cents is leave a buck it makes the point and also shows you know a little about dining out.

As a former waiter. No tip means he paid for you to eat there. Maybe $1, but still that's tough. I would say leave $1 or $2 if service is terrible. Leaving zero means you're the dick. Leave $1 and you point is still made.
Then do your freaking job. And, BTW, i normally am a good tipper, generally 20-25%. But, I see no reason to tip for crap service... However, I will tip if service is good and food is bad.... that is not the server's fault..

I completely disagree with you. And I'm a server and cocktail waitress too. Buffalo Wild Wings knows nothing about dining out so why should I? I'm convinced their management must not care at all and the employees don't get in trouble for anything. The service wouldn't be absolutely terrible on a consistent basis if they were accountable for their actions.

shite like this is why I hate tipping culture so damn much. If everyone stopped paying tips, the workers in the food service industry would probably all be better off.
Amen. It's such a bull shite policy that I'm culturally obligated to tip some frick who sucks at his job.

Sorry but this is a really dumb thing to say. Do you want McDonalds level employees bringing you a $100 dinner?

I tip more than most people. 20% is the norm for me and sometimes more. But if it was as bad as the OP said, frick the waiter. No tip. I give precisely zero fricks what that results in the waiter's "out of pocket" expense. Some people are not meant to do certain jobs and a server will never know that he/she isnt cut out for it unless they are told. Not tipping, speaks pretty loud. If you do even a average job serving me, you get more than average tip, you go out of your way, you get even more. If you cant even come close to doing your job. Sorry for your loss.
That pretty much says it And I can even tolerate a poor job of serving. But add the bad attitude on top of it and you get nothing. If I think someone is in over their head and is at least making some effort I'll leave a good tip. This guy sounds like he doesn't care so you shouldn't tip.

Who cares? You know what though, you are right, I will leave something instead of nothing. Leave a nickel, that way he/she knows that you didnt just forget and you left him that little for a reason.

Very good point. I have no problem with somebody trying; it's really the bad attitude that pisses me off.

Exactly. I can tell if the person is just running out of his mind and still not able to keep up with all his customers. As long as the guy/gal is giving effort, they get paid, and paid well. If its just shitty service, they still get paid, just nothing extra. If they suck and they have a bad attitude to boot, frick em. They might get what loose change I have in my pocket, and I very rarely keep change in my pocket.

I agree that our tipping culture is flawed but servers make much more than retail workers or other entry level jobs. $15/hr minimum.. And that's rare... They're usually making even more than that. If things changed and servers were now getting paid min wage.. Or even $10 or so an hour.. You'd lose a lot of them. I can barely muster up the motivation to go to work knowing I'll make $150 or so. No way I could deal with annoying customers for less I think it would bring down the grade of service because Americans are lazy and let's face it.. People aren't going to bend over backwards knowing they're making the same either way. It's unfortunate but would be the case with many.

Agree. These threads always make me wonder where you people are eating I've had one sole instance of a server with a bad attitude. It was like 3 or so years ago too.

Is clearer a word? Also, are the wings good at this place? Just saw there is one in Chicago and we have very few chains.

Even buying into that logic, IF he screws up your entire order, part of it should be on him.

If I had experienced what you detailed, their is no doubt in my mind I would have left a $0 tip. I have only left a $0 tip once and it was at a Chilis. I have eaten at BWW twice, and one of those times was just a horrific experience. I was very close to not tipping that night as well.
