re: The Best Band to Come From Your Hometown

Not bands but

Where I live:

Van Cliburn
Lead Belly
James Burton

My hometowns are West Monroe and Huntsville, AL.

I don't know anyone from Huntsville, I guess we could claim Bo Bice. I know there is a famous old country singer from West Monroe, Webb Pierce. As you all know, Tim McGraw is from Start which is 20 minutes away from West Monroe. but he is a better actor than singer.

No, we didn't even have a decent local band. The best music being played in town during a normal week was on Sundays if that tells you anything.

Closest thing I can claim from my hometown is Dave Grohl from Warren, OH which is like 15 minutes away.

I'm from Nashville, and truth be told it's hard to figure out what bands are actually from there as most are born elsewhere and migrate to Nashville.

Beaumont? I thought George Jones and one of either Walker or Chestnutt were from Vidor. Extend the area to Port Arthur and you could include Janis Joplin and UGK.

Hai Karate, although some of the Broussards had #1 hits back in the 50s.

don't know how many people have heard them but I'd say Givers from Lafayette, LA. went to HS with the drummer
