I am one of the few Louisianians who loves hockey. I went to a few games before the team disbanded a couple years ago and we were god awful. I have a pretty cool LSU hockey jersey with the old tiger on the Chest though.
We need a soccer team before a hockey team though. Title IX has kept back soccer in America from being successful

Bc it's a lot like soccer, all women sports and rugby.
Nobody cares and all it does is cost the school money.

You're an idiot. I watched three games so far this season and the scores were 5-2, 3-1, and 5-2.
I've always hated the "there's never any scoring" argument against hockey and soccer. It's simply not true and there are many factors that go into the art of the game besides scoring. Please take a minute to not be so god damned narrow minded.

Louisiana has no youth hockey programs that i am aware of to produce local talent to support the program

We had a league in Lake Charles for a while when I was growing up and had the Ice Pirates

Be honest with yourself.... Would you consistently go to lsu hockey games? As for 99% of lsu fans: no. We can't even pack the PMac on a consistent basis.

Hockey is entertaining. I used to go to Brass games. Never really understood the rules but whatever.
Hockey would do well in LSU if they do one thing: allow fights. Let the enforcers do their thing. People will go if there are brawls. It doesn't have to be mma, but there must be some fights.

The reason the PMAC doesn't fill up is because the project over the past few seasons has been mediocre. If Jones' first recruiting class pans out and he builds upon that, we'll have capacity crowds again.
As for hockey, I wouldn't go consistently but in a 36 game season, 18 home games, I'd go to 2 or 3 games, provided there's a decent product on the rink. Get enough of those people and you have a fan base.

Really, scoring is not the most exciting thing about hockey. It's the collisions and fights.

People didn't fill the PMAC for a Final 4 team, they aren't coming to see a crappy hockey team likely playing other crappy hockey teams.

Do you know how many people it would take to fill, or come close to filling the arena, if everyone went to 2-3 games?
I enjoyed kingfish hockey. Went to see the fights and every now and then catch some cool highlights. This fickle fanbase wouldn't let hockey succeed. No first year program will just come in an blow shite up and we wouldnt consistantly put asses in the sears until we made a splash in the league. All it would do is drain funds from other sports.
Id like it. But from a business standpoint It's not a good idea. I'd love to see the ice tigers. Z just wouldn't work here. Just like kingfish.

Absolutely right Harry!
Both hockey & soccer have so much more going on than the assist and goal. It's so different from American football that I think it's difficult for local fans to watch/comprehend.
These are reasons why:
1. You have to have an attention span. For soccer especially since it's played continuously for 45 minutes per half, there are no stoppages, coach called time-outs or TV time-outs.
2. You have to put up with the players themselves actually running their own offense/defense and the game evolves and unfolds. No off the field person is wired and telling a player on the field (or ice) what to do.
3. There is a LOT going on the field away from the ball in soccer, ALL the time. It's a big field.
4. Hockey is so fast and continual motion, it's hard to keep track of the puck and the plays if you're not used to it.
Football and baseball are leisurely sports by comparison, punctuated by big plays.
