There's really no excuse for any of them. All were mistakes that should have never happened. No excuse to not have the ability to clear a weapon before your finger hits the trigger. Or doing so before taking one to sell.

You would be surprised how many idiots there are in this world. I went in a pawn and asked to look at a 22 when I pulled the bolt back the gun was fully loaded. The guy looked at me and said you can load the guns. I told him look here dumbass it was already loaded.

Done that before too. Used to work at a pawn shop yrs ago. People would get this shocked look when I would drop the mag..and as they say its empty, rack a round out of the chamber.

Like any other group of people in this world. Idiots in all walks of life. Gun owners aren't exempt from them either.

On two different occasions at a gun show in the Baton Rouge Centroplex a round was fired. Place went completely silent and the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. The first time a dumbass brought his hand gun in for trade in a backpack and bypassed the sheriff at the front checking weapons. Gun was loaded and he discharged it showing the vendor he was trying to cut a deal with. He was escorted out in handcuffs. Second time one of the vendors was showing his side arm to a patron and had an accidental discharge. Very weird to hear a shot ring out in a place like that. Time seemed to stop and you hope to God no one got injured.

back in the early 90's, I worked the gun counter at a SportingGoods store here in Shreveport. When someone needed something for their gun, we would have to come get it at the door, check it, and walk it in. This one time a guy brings his freshly bought pawnshop pistol in for a holster. He hands it to me at the door and tells me he just chambered a bullet. Being stupid at the time, without ejecting the magazine, I proceeded to pull the chamber back to eject the bullet. So you can see where this is going. When I ejected the bullet, it loaded a fresh bullet and now it is cocked. When the bullet ejected there was 3 yr old like 20 ft away that went for the bullet. So here I am holding a cocked pistol in one hand trying to keep a child from rushing at me. The store manager flipped out. We would have rifles come in needing scopes that were loaded all the time.

I would like to know the history of the person responsible for the accidental discharge. I don't put anything past this administration. It would certainly help King O's momentum if a bunch of accidental discharges were going off at gunshows. I read where there were 3 total, at different gunshows? Is this due to the "Craze" of people that normally don't handle or use guns getting out and trying to make a quick buck, or is this Democratic Operatives???

Don't forget about the accidental shooting by a dealer in Ohio. LINK
quote:
National News Dealer accidentally shoots man at Ohio gun show MORE Associated Press Posted on January 19, 2013 at 6:35 PM Updated yesterday at 7:03 PM MEDINA, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say an accidental shooting at an Ohio gun show has left one man wounded. Police in Medina (meh-DEYE'-nuh) say a gun dealer was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he'd bought Saturday when he accidentally pulled the trigger. Police Chief Pat Berarducci (BEHR'-uh-doo-chee) says it appears the bullet struck the floor, then a longtime friend of the gun dealer. The man was wounded in the arm and leg. Berarducci says the man was taken by helicopter to a Cleveland hospital. His condition isn't known. Police say the gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm but one round remained in the chamber. Medina is about 30 miles south of Cleveland.

Doesn't anyone else just open the action before handing the gun over to someone else anymore, or is that just the crowd I hang with? ...and keeping fingers off the trigger before acquiring the target? I was against teaching gun saftey in schools, but now I'm thinking maybe that's not such a bad idea.

Anytime I receive a gun in possession, the mag is dropped and chamber cleared and the same when I let someone else take possession. The day after the shooting I made a couple of threads recommending a gun safety course in schools as an elective, with after school sponsorships with accredited ranges. If its a right, why not teach children how to operate safely? Simple logic, imo.

I have always done this or at least knew if my gun was loaded or not. When I grew up the guns my dads had where always loaded, they were something you didn't mess with. I grew up to always think a gun is loaded no matter where I am at. Even with the chamber open you won't ever see me point a gun in an unsafe direction. I have had several incidents over the years where either the gun failed or the individual holding it failed.
