Halo 2 is the golden standard.
Nevermind the variations of shitty ability additions they made with 3 and Reach, Halo 4 took everything that made Halo unique and just copy and pasted from every other twitch shooter out there now. After they ruined arguably one of the best storylines in video game history of course.

I'm a harsh critic of games as I get older, but I attribute it more to nostalgia and changing tastes than I do the competence of current game developers.
it was a bitter pill to swallow, but I finally realized it isn't them.... it's me.

Can't a man piss and moan about something he invested time and money in? Besides, not like I'm playing it and bitching. I'll stick with Reach and 3. the abilities aren't as cheap in 3 as they are in Reach. Just pointing out the direction the series was taking after 2.

IMO
Halo: CE > Halo 3 > Halo 2 > Halo 4 > Halo: Reach
A lot of people didn't pick up on Halo until 2 came out. They really missed out on the first Halo. It reinvented console FPS multiplayer IMO.
