Not probable cause, that is the arrest standard.

Reasonable suspicion to inquire about possible criminal activities

I got a ticket in Port Vincent last year, guy asks if I had any weapons in vehicle. He goes and gets it. After the ticket he tells me he really liked my pistol but he wished I would go home and clean it.

If you have your CC license, but have your gun "concealed" in your center console, are you required to inform the officer that you are armed? I know that you must if you are carrying, or risk having your license revoked. But in this case, you are doing something that doesn't even require a license.

To my understanding it is an unwritten rule that as a courtesy if you have a CC license you should hand the officer that with your DL. They know you have a CCL when they run your drivers license and they can get upset that you did not tell them you had a weapon. If you don't have a CCL and you choose not to tell them because they did not ask I see no problem with that. If/when I get pulled over I will hand him both licenses to keep it simple. Also heard of people getting off easy because they are CCL holders.

Yep.

I've gotten out of 3 tickets because of my permit. People argue that they think I'm being ridiculous but when your conversation with an officer turns from him being irritated with you to suggesting holsters for you, he probably let you go because of your permit.

That was one of my Christmas presents

Took very little time and effort, and is exactly what the doctor ordered for the days I drive a lot with my 1911. Its only uncomfortable for me to CC when I am driving. That makes it all better

Minor clarification.

In LA, if the gun is concealed on your person, you MUST tell the LEO. OTOH, if it's in your car but NOT concealed on your person, I don't THINK you're required to tell them you have a concealed carry license. I don't know this for certain as I've never found it in writing either way. I'd welcome any further clarification from anyone who knows for certain.....

I'm obviously going to inform an officer no matter what, but I just want clarification. I don't want to forget about a gun in the console while worrying about a traffic ticket and have them see that I have a CCL and start asking questions. Then I get screwed.

As I said it is one of those unwritten rules that is showing the popo courtesy by handing them your CCL with your DL. Not a law just the thing to do so as not to anger them.
