I am almost certain that the answer is no. In fact, I don't think businesses are even obligated to accept cash as payment. IE, if they want to accept credit card only, that's their prerogative. (Just my opinion though, I could be wrong)

You are correct. I've been in a few out of the way places that wouldn't accept credit cards. Usually dive restaurants with sometimes great food and plenty of cold beer.

I've always thought if I owned a business I would ban coins.

I would price everything to include sales tax and only in even dollar amounts. If someone only has change then get the frick out.

The only businesses I'm aware of that have minimum cash on hand requirements are casinos (the amount of coins they keep is ridiculous). Casinos are expected to be able to redeem every chip and token they have. First someone has to beat the casino for several million, and then they have to want their winnings in cash. If you assume that a $100 bill weighs one gram, then $100,000 weighs 1kg, and $1 million weighs 10kg. Several million in cash gets pretty heavy. Most people would rather have a check from the casino when they win big.

I'm I the only one who finds it sickening that our culture expects there to be a law for every little thing that bothers them.
