Quasi-hijack / Real Talk: When my boxer was over 14, she got VERY weak to the point of being all but crippled.
I remember one time, maybe a week or two before she died, I walked into the backyard after being gone a few days(2?). I was going over to her to pick her up and bring her to her bed inside (we were carrying her around basically all the time), but her eyes absolutely lit up when she saw me, and that crippled arse dog used every ounce of strength to pick herself up just to get to me a just few seconds sooner. I broke down crying right there and just held her.
No one will love you like your dog does. RIP Medusa.

ETA: I rescued a Lab when I was in elementary school. One day I'm walking around school and hear a dog is roaming the campus. I go check it out and, sure enough, it was my Lab. The school was close enough that I could walk if I wanted and I guess she tracked me down.

When I moved out of my parents' house for the first time, my dad sent me this picture about 8 hours later that same day. He was trying to leave the house but couldn't find our dog anywhere. He called him and looked in every room, then finally found him curled up in the corner when my bed used to be.

When I was a kid, my neighbor came over to play video games at my house, and his dog followed him. The dog apparently sat on the front porch of my house after following my neighbor over. Well, around dinner time, his mom called for him to go home, and he left out the back door of my house and ran home. The next day when I walked out to go catch the bus, his Lab was laying down on my porch, still waiting for him to come out. I had to walk over to his driveway and make him come show his dog that he had been doublecrossed and left out to dry.
