re: Colorado Ski Resorts

Overrated - Breck only because of how packed it gets.

Underrated - Copper Mtn.

ETA: Epic pass is sweet. Last year I skied as Beaver creek, Breck and keystone in 5 days.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
Crested Butte-Not very crowded, lots of green/blue runs.
Aspen/Aspen Highlands-Nice but crowded.
Lake Tahoe-Crappy snow but gamblings/nightlife.
Northern Japan-Not very crowded, hard to communicate, small mountains.

Thats been my skiing career up to now.

Depends on experience level. For beginners I'll disagree with you on that.

Don't know how they are "rated" but when I was living in Boulder I skied mostly at A-Basin, Loveland, Keystone, and Copper Mountain. The first two are probably the most overlooked. I was doing day-trips, not staying at the resorts. Crested Butte and Purgatory are a couple I always wanted to try but never managed to.

so I think it is much better than Breck but Breck is still a good mountain. I dont think they have gotten too much snow this year

They've had 90 inches total? LINK
I'm not an advanced snowboarder by any means so I think it will be fine for me.

The biggest complaint I hear about Breck is the huge crowds

Breck is better than Heavenly in just about every way unless you are a gambler. For pure snow conditions, my vote is with the Utah resorts near SLC.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
Not Colorado but I am leaving Sun Valley Idaho now and it was awesome. Great long runs and I did not wait in one lift line in 3 days.the only knock is I understand they don't get as much snow as Colorado, but we had good powder the whole time.

Also Big Sky Montana was great. I've done most all the Colorado slopes and Park City as well. Big Sky and Sun Valley were my favorites. I've never been to Wistler but I have been told it's the best.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
back bowls at vail are great. nightlife is fun but crowded.

beaver creek was boring as frick. too many smaller kids but lots of milfs

breck can be fun if you can get away from the crowds. good food/bars at night.

crested butte is smallish but there's good skiing to be found. love the town of CB.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
As far as colorado is concerned, the wife and i really enjoy srested butte. not as crowded, lodging is a little less than some of the bigger places and a nice little town with lots going on. we wanted to change it up this year and spent 8 days in angelfire nm. we really enjoyed it, there were NO lift lines during the week (sunday through thursday) but was getting pretty crowded. the lift tickets were 25-35 less than most colorado resorts (50-60 per day). the ski in/out acomodations are few and far between but not bad parking and alot of places are within walking distance or on the shuttle route.

If you want to ski with no lines and be able to have the mountain to yourself...check out Big Sky in Montana. It is adjacent to Moonlight Resort and you can ski both.

My wife an I were married in Vail close to the Gondola...Yet we keep going back here.

I agree with Crested Butte. It is an awesome place. Good runs for all difficulties and not too crowded when I was there. Great experience overall.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
Steamboat because you can fly right in there. You have 10minute drive and then you're on the slopes.

Best skiing experience for me was Whistler, but not in CO

For the best snow I would say park City. I've been just about everywhere. Going to Breck next month.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
Here are my short reviews for where i have been

Utah resorts - best snow

Vail- huge resort with all kinds or terrain so you won't get bored. Lots of international travelers.

Breck- great for beginners can get very crowded, great town to enjoy at night

Steamboat- fun place with good snow and variety

Crested Butte- stunning views, decent variety of terrain, half the mountain is expert terrain so great if your good, small town with stuff to do and the locals love that you came to visit and are nice

Jackson Hole- awesome terrain for good skiers. Very fun place but town is a little ways away.

Wolf creek- best snow in Colorado

Durango Ski resort- town is absolutely awesome, ski resort ok but nothing special, go to Durango during the summer instead

That's it for my short reviews.

re: Colorado Ski Resorts
Crested Butte does love lsu fans. They pretty much party for any reason they can think of and the whole town gets involved. They have a decent little Mardi Gras.

Some local last year blew their whole hand off because he was extremely high and messed up playing with fireworks. They had a fundraiser for the guy one night that we happened upon and it was one of the best parties I have ever been to.

That's how they roll, blow off your hand, lets have a big party.
