Lynx, 10,000 points is worth $100 in travel. For other stuff I have to look to make sure because I got this card specifically for travel rewards.

Looks like for non travel reimbursement you are looking at a 1 to 2 relationship.

So 10,000 for travel is worth $100
10,000 for say, a check made out to you or credit on account = $50.

Then of course, there are rewards for merchandise and stuff but I'd never use the rewards for that.

Looks like my Sky Preferred still suits me well then. The Sapphire Preferred is very tempting though...

I have thought of switching to a no annual fee AMEX just to keep my credit line open and then getting the Sapphire Preferred. I am trying to be very careful with my credit score right now.

So, which is better?

Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Capital One Venture Card?

I'm looking at both of these cards. I also charge all my expenses (gas, groceries, some bills, misc. spending, etc) on the card and pay it off every month. We mainly use our rewards on airfaire or hotel stays.
