I just switched to the AMEX Blue Sky Preferred.
Earn 2 points for every dollar you spend at a restaurant.
Every 7500 points is redeemable for $100 credit for travel related expenses.
Most programs are 10,000 points = $100, so this is a significant increase for me.
I was tired of getting 1 pt per dollar at SPG, even though they have the 20,000 points to 25,000 SkyMiles deal.
I travel way too much for work and probably eat out for 90% of my meals (wish I didn't have to), so the 2 pts for restaurants is a big win.
I literally told the CSR: "I have been with AMEX for awhile, I want to see how you value me as a customer. I am considering switching to Chase Sapphire Preferred...here are my reasons...what can you do to keep me at AMEX".
She offered me a 15,000 pt promo for the Blue Sky Preferred, but I turned it down so that I could keep my credit line the same (didn't want to change card numbers and end a 4+ year line of credit).
AMEX also has kickass customer service and customer protection. I am very much a brand ambassador for the company.
