I glanced at it earlier. Have you seen the video of them making a lower receiver on a 3D printer? It lasted 2-3 shots before falling apart. I believe that they made a new model out of different material but I am unsure of the result.

I didnt see that one, but I saw this guy shoot several rounds through the printed magazine, and seemed to function fine.
The guy in the video says he used a 3D printer from the 90's, so I imagine if you used a newer more modernized printer, you could make something a lot better.

They have these now that use a more sturdy epoxylike substance that would probably work fine.

I didnt see that or must have missed that. Imagine the possibilities. Imagine how many things can and will be made at home instead of going to the store. Companies will sell you the file to make a hammer instead of going to Lowes to buy one.
One of the first videos I saw was somebody making a working crescent wrench. I have been intrigued since.

Yeah I saw that video too, and was amazed.
Like the younger guy in the video says, this is a complete and total game changer. You can just about be completely independent from purchasing things, other than the materials to print things.
Sure, you can buy a stencil to print a hammer, but why? You could spend the $10 for one, or spend 10 minutes on the internet and find a free one to download.
Like he says, the internet is freedom.

Rarely am I truly amazed at something, but I can barely wrap my head around this one. I'm gonna have to do a little more research to understand this.

This technology has been used for making bio-sythetic/mechanical 3D structures like bones, and heart valves.
