Looking for recommendations. First time I've needed to use one since moving to the area. Looking for typical fresh and smoked sausage with a 50/50 pork mix. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Lagneaux's on Ridge Rd

I tried to bring a deer to Chop's in Broussard
and they acted like they were too busy.

I've never understood the facination with deer sausage. I prefer to have my deer made into steaks and hamburger meat. Last time I priced up making smoked deer sausage I think it was cheaper to buy Manda's or Vernon's from a grocer. Of course I eat alot more grind meat than smoked sausage too.

I agree, I always get a fair amount of ground meat and select cuts. The issue is that any processor can grind meat, but I need a good one to make a tasty, juicy sausage.

If I ate alot of sausage I'd probably do the same. I'm just spoilt by the NELA processing prices. I can get my deer cut into tenderized steak and hamburger then vacuum packed for $55. I usually forego the tenderizing though because it cooks too dry on the grill.

I brought one to Shawns in Delcambre couple weeks ago. The fresh and smoked sausage is really good. I wound up with 20# fresh and 20# smoked. I brought them 4 quarters not deboned and it was $150.

Let us know who you use. I'd like to try other places as well.

Southern deer processing in breaux bridge. Owners name is andre. Awesome sausage.

Theriots's grocery in new iberia is also excellent.

Shawns in delcambre has the syrup sausage which is different and tasty.
