At this point I don't think anyone can stop that man from winning his third Best Leading Actor Oscar. If he does win it next month, he'll become the first actor in Oscar history to win three Best Leading Actor Oscars.

Denzel should have 3 (Malcolm X, The Hurricane, Training Day)

Though it could be argued...if you're giving it to him for oscars he deserved. I'd have to remove Training Day since Crowe should have won that year.

Also...

I'm watching Gangs of New York...

And Bill the Butcher throws a knife at a picture of Lincoln.

Tom Hanks should have three Lead Actor Oscars IMHO. The dude knocked it out of the park with Philadelphia and Forrest Gump to be sure, but he gave his best performance in Cast Away. Russell Crowe did not deserve the Oscar that year though I do agree he deserved it the next year for A Beautiful Mind.

See that was a tough year imo.

Tom Hanks was tremendous that year. I would have given him the award at that time.

But I must admit as time has passed....Crowe's performance is more memorable.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. From that to The Man With the Iron Fists and Les Miserables (I'll be making a thread about this soon)

You're an idiot... Even if you didn't like the movie, to say he's "fallen" by doing the movie makes you an idiot

I'm not calling anyone an idiot but I am surprised to see Crowe getting second billing to Marky Mark in their new film.

DDL should have won for In the Name of the Father and Gangs. This should be his 5th with Lincoln.

Bill the Butcher was a great character. One of my favorites in movies.
Saw Lincoln and was impressed. Almost all who try to portray Lincoln always appear to be trying too hard to be sad. Lewis does a nice subtle job. Even his walk was meant to convay a tall and lanky gate.
Nice job I thought.

Disagree.

"I'm sorry, Wilson!"
Who else that year made you emotional over an object as irrelevant as a volleyball?

Haven't seen Lincoln but not surprised; DDL masters his roles with incredible research and effort.

Your obsession with DDL and Lincoln is starting to rival the JGL obsessions on here.

No one. That's why I regard his performance as the year's best as well as the best performance he ever gave. Between that scene and the monologue he gives at the end of the movie....I don't know. It just hurts me to know he didn't win the Oscar for such an amazing performance.

Yes, it is true, I think Daniel Day-Lewis to be the best actor working on the planet today. The only difference between my opinion and those of the opinion that JGL is the greatest thing since sliced bread is that the world actually agrees with me.

As for Lincoln, I am not as obsessed with it as you make me out to be. I thought it was a great movie, but won't be devastated if it fails to win Best Picture. I have seen Argo, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, and Lincoln - 6 of the 9 Best Picture nominees - and I have to say the only one that wouldn't deserve the Oscar for Best Picture is Les Miserables.

IU've never gotten the love for Tom Hanks as a serious actor. the man is a hack...he is a decent comedy actor but his "serious stuff" is laughable.

Day-Lewis should have won for Gangs of New York as well. He owned that roll. He got robbed.
