I may be in the minority, but I like this movie. And I think Mel Gibson does some good acting in it (especially during the emotional times *spoiler* after his sons die).

I've never seen the movie and don't care to so this didn't bother me..but just as a courtesy if you're gonna post a spoiler, try to put some space between writing the word "spoiler" and the actual thing. I own it for the costumes and some of the cinematography. But it's really really bad

I could go on all day. It has to be a record for the most slow motion scenes in movie history. I think the director was like hey this is really important, put it in slow mo. Like capitalizing a word to get your point across.

I can no longer watch Mel Gibson movies. I look at the character he's playing and all I see is the real life weirdness of the actor.

This movie is so hilariously bad. I love the attempt at racial reconciliation at the last battle ..everything is so poorly done. Jason Isaacs may as well be Boris from Rocky and Bullwinkle hes so cartoonish. If you actually consider this a good movie, please stop handling any complex machinery

Wow, what a condescending dick you are. I love this movie. I don't need every movie I watch (or any movie I watch) to be Citizen Kane or whatever movie you movie snobs think is perfectly done. I just want a fun damn movie, and the Patriot delivers that in droves.

It's a fun movie. Don't take it as historic gospel (or anything remotely in that ballpark, for that matter) and you're good to go.

I love this movie in all its unapologetic jingoism. There is no apologizing for the British in the Patriot. They are evil and must die.

I should say production values
The production values are pretty good with the costumes sticking out as exceptional. I'm a sucker for sets, costumes and makeup. Probably the only reason I watched red riding hood.

See, one main reason I hate it is because it tries to be so serious. If it was tongue in cheek, I wouldnt hate it so much. I'm not a total snob. You're talking to someone who loves the death wish movies. While there are a few scenes in the Patriot that are 'fun,' the majority of it actually tries to pass off as serious drama and fails miserably. That's why it offends my tastes so much. I don't think its even good in a fun way

The scene where he took his boy, chased down those Redcoats and fricked them all up was awesome. His 2 boys had 5 minutes to grow up and become men.
