What purpose does a 2 seater sports car serve? Now we have to justify enjoying a hobby? Some people just enjoy going to the range and shooting, just like some enjoy fishing, hunting, racing cars, watching television, etc.
I understand that no one should have to suffer what the families of these acts of evil bring, but at the same time you can't trample the rights of the many because a few loons went over the deep end and killed some people.
Why not focus on the criminals instead of civilians. Most of the guns used are stolen in these shootings anyhow. The gun isn't bringing about the act of violence, it's the person.

Yes. In 1791, the second amendment was adopted with the rest of the bill of rights, to prevent America from becoming a dictatorship. PREVENT. Not react to a dictatorship, therefore NO DICTATORSHIP.
