It is entirely dependent on the reasonableness and validity of their practices. Some are useful, some are not. I would agree with you, though, that cherishing them for the sake of their existence is foolhardy.
Gun ownership, however, is not foolhardy in the least.

Yep, maybe I'll do that, in the mean time here's the video where he admits it (LINK ). He had relationships with many underage girls. It's common knowledge. He says that he had parental permission. So the next time you call somebody out or call somebody a liar. How about doing some basic research.

No longer are the blacks, the minorities, the women, the Muslims, the gays, or the poor being oppressed. We are embracing them.
Now, the rich, the constitution-beaters, the whites, the gun-lovers, the conservatives...these are the ones being oppressed. Amirite?
Forget all that for a second, answer me this:
Do you guys really think an auto-icon for civil rights is comparable to a paranoid gun owner thinking the 'gubmint is gonna take his guns?

How young? Because I did a 5 second search earlier and I only found democratic underground thread discussing it not as fact but adding the molester part because they hate him.

By George I think you've got it. I said the same thing about Rosa Parks, gun rights and civil disobedience in 2 posts earlier this week. We are talking about a civil right here after all.
If there was a push to repeal the 19th amendment what kind of behavior would you expect from women's rights groups?
The attack on the 2nd amendment is touching the same nerves and is waking the same passion and feelings.

Well said but they will never get it. They have a strange,sick reality that their rights rule. They crybaby about being called names by the right and independents and then call people a derogatory name such as tea baggers and wish death on all that stick up for American core values.
They don't get the concept and never will.They think it is rednecks wanting guns.They are ignorant to any cause other that what their POS leader tells them.

I hold those in the Bill of Rights as all equal. If you don't have the means to protect them, then you will eventually have none. Which of the original Ten Amendments are throw aways to you?

The primary one they talk about is a 17 year old that he was made guardian of, so that he could continue his relationship with. But there were many more, he even says that he'd charm the parents and they would go along with it cause it's better they get with him than some high school guy.
It just makes him a huge hypocrit, especially when you hear him talking about child molesters now. He was a predator and if the law did what is was supposed to, he'd have that designation the rest of his life. Pointing that out is important, cause it should ruin any public credibility he has.

You and I both know cherry-picking happens by many diverse groups. Example: the ACLU never takes on 2nd amendment cases, the NRA rarely deals with 1st Amendment cases.
So, lets celebrate the strength we derive from this diversity (Isn't that the popular teaching these days?) and be happy that there are groups with the passion to fight for all of our civil rights.
I hope you appreciate that a new generation of millions are rediscovering, emulating, and empathizing with historical civil rights leaders that you probably admire.

I think it is a pretty safe bet that, were our forefathers to suddenly appear in the United States tomorrow that by almost any standard they would be considered "nuts". They supported the idea of owning human beings for christs sake. They weren't about freedom at all by todays standards. But if you want to revert to their ideas I am good with that....you should be able to keep and bear as many arms that were typical in their day as you would like to own. It would be dammed difficult to shoot up a school house with a muzzle loader......
