I always wondered how we couldn't keep him and promote him to our HC position. Was he ever interviewed? Or did he just not want to become our HC? I mean hindsight is 20/20 but he's got FSU on the up and rising again.

You think he's better than Miles?

And what would you base this on.....I'll sit back and listen

The ghost of Mike Archer played a big part in the thought process, I'd imagine.

I think LSU HC hires in all sports have been head coaches elsewhere. I'm not sure we've seriously considered the "up can coming assistant coach" for any HC position in any sport. I could be wrong though since I don't follow the minor sports closely.

When Saban left, supposedly they asked him and he didn't think Fisher was ready. If Miles had left in either 2007 or 2010, I think he would have been on the short list.

Most teams won't interview for a head coaching position that isn't vacant.

There was a pretty significant portion of the fanbase who complained about Jimbo.

I remember a good bit of fans complaining about his bubble screens.

So many people on this board were happy to see Jimbo leave simply because he would not open up the offense. Lots of memory loss in this thread.

On this board and around the state, people were bitching to high heaven about Jimbo and his offense and were glad when he left.

I was about to say this was rantard 20/20 hindsight, but it's not even that. What has Jimbo Fisher done that makes you think he'd have done better here than Miles starting back in 2005?

Tiger fans hated him as OC. Hated the play calling, the decision making, and basically treated him like every OC that we've had. Including Miles.

If only these so-called "coaches" had half the football knowledge that the guy sitting thirty rows up had, we'd never lose.

Not really. The acc is terrible and he is still losing games to crap teams that he shouldn't. I'll give him creedit for recruiting well, but the product on the field isn't any different than it has been since he's been they. Perenial 3-loss team with at least one loss to inferior competition/year.

Lost to nc state, has out recruited lsu for decades yet isnt on lsus level any more.

2002 and 2004 under jimbo were worse than any of crowton or studs offenses.

Fsu can have fisher and continue to struggle to win the acc.

You do realize jimbo was under bowden for a few years, right?

The coach he is now is not the coach he would have been in 2005.

FSU are underachieving choke artists. What are you talking about?

REALLY? WTF? Jimbo has done nothing to prove he is capable of running a top notch program. He has been at FSU 6 or 7 years now--part of the time as "Head Coach in waiting and 3 full seasons as HC. What does he have to show for it? Come on, it isn't like he has not had significant influence on the teams look and play over the entire span--this is not like he showed up on campus 3 years ago as HC with no foundation under him.
