I just got the Aria (which is 5 stars) on Hotwire for $88 a night.

Were you able to name the Aria or was it a unnamed 5-star hotel or whatever? I've been wary of doing that as you run a risk of being placed at Trump or LVH which some sites consider the strip when in reality they're not.

I felt absolutely ripped off after checking out Aria's buffet. Probably the worst food money I've spent in Vegas...ever.

It was unnamed but there was only one other 5 Star under "South Strip" available for I think $99 a night. I checked it on better bidding. Either one would have been fine.

I've never stayed on this part of the strip.

Where would you recommend a few guys not wanting to spend a million dollars to eat at? Nothing over the top fancy. Mostly places that we can drink beer.

Any place on the strip has got you by the balls as far as food price. I was disappointed on my last visit to learn that the brewpub was taken out of Monte Carlo. I used to like gambling there because when I was shooting craps the waitresses would serve beer brewed on the premises.

If you take anything away from this conversation, avoid the Buffet at Aria at all cost, and check out the plethora of one star yelp reviews if you need further proof. I couldn't believe that a brand new posh hotel could suck so badly at a buffet attempt.

I'm not a buffet person in general. Had the one at Mandalay and it was nothing more than a buffet to me.

I am making the little trek back down there to hit up Burger Bar again though.

I'm not the biggest buffet person either, but I ended up wanting immediate food after the sand volleyball courts wore me out at Aria.

I've had the Mandalay buffet before because it was comped, and it wasn't too shabby. The crab and shrimp alone are worth it.

Never been to the Burger Bar.

The burger place in Paris across the street is really good for what you ask. burger brasserie they also have a huge beer tube thing you can order. Also the Earl of Sandwich is a steal in Planet Hollywood. They also have a Pinks which is ok.

As far as Aria. Your price is pretty good I just dont care for Aria's casino. I would rather go to Monte Carlo or Bellagio to gamble.

Of all the places I walked through and checked out, this was hands down my favorite. EDIT: Talking about the place in general to R2R.. not recommending this as a buffet to OP.

Cosmopolitan is all the rage right now (and it's definitely pretty), but I feel like the over-the-top decor there will be considered out of date and tacky within a few years whereas Aria is simple and clean. Definitely more my style.

To the OP: I'd check out a buffet or two (one of the awesome ones mentioned), but if you're going to be stuck there for business after the first few days anyway, I'd check out some reputable regular restaurants too. I know everyone has their own interests and yours might not be food, but the food I had in Vegas was the most memorable part of my trip there.

While Burger Bar at Mandalay is decent, I think Holsteins at Cosmopolitan blows it away. I had both on my visit last month.
