“There is great talent in the program at LSU,” Davis said during a telephone interview to promote the Capital One Cup competition. “In addition to aspiring to win championships for their university and their teammates, (top players) aspire to achieve the highest personal goals.

“I don’t think it’s bad. Excellence begets excellence. I think it signifies that LSU is good at developing players and getting them ready for the NFL. There’s some great talent whose time to move on has come. It’s a good problem to have. The last thing you want is to have a bunch of seniors coming back who aren’t very good players.”

So our guys going pro aren't very good players?

We'll all find out just how good they were when we return to the field later this year.

think he was joking. Read the quote, read what he said in a light hearted way and it's a bit humorous.

quote:

The original quote doesn't make a lot of sense though, since everyone who returns isn't shitty.

fwiw, the quote is from Rece Davis, and is found in an article on the Advocate site

always found it interesting how ppl attribute a quote/ opinion to "ESPN" when it's only one of their guys

The defense put everything they had into winning for LSU and got the last 4 losses of their career because their coach is a fricking idiot. They realize next year will not be special. Can't blame the RB's. If blue is healthy they will possibly be higher on the depth chart in the pros. Might as well get paid to play. If they are worth a damn, they get to the big money one year earlier. Didn't trev Faulk leave early only to not get drafted. Doesn't cherish his LSU life?
