He didn't "call out" the fans.

He was asked about how great the fans were tonight and he complimented the crowd for how into the game they were. Said how much they help and inspire the team. Then he basically begged more people to show up for that reason. Said he'd buy the tickets if he has to, they just need the crowds.

That's good to hear. I don't watch FSNO's crappy pre- and post-game coverage.

good for Monty, but don't tell some people on this board about attendance. they'll cut off their nose to spite their face with endless and ridiculous excuses for the piss poor fan support this team always gets.

"well its been snowing in Colorado so that's why attendance was bad tonight"

"don't forget its Halloween and the kids are out trick or treating"

"no big deal. high school football playoffs are going on"

etc, etc, etc.

I've been attending the games for 6 years now with season tickets since the Hornets came back to NOLA. I'm no better than anyone else by doing so, but I have the right to voice my opinion about the fan base - or should I say lack thereof. I've posted on this board before, but not often.

because I love the Hornets and want them to succeed here long term. I have friends in Baton Rouge who even when the Hornets were a playoff team I couldn't even give free tickets to. Its sad when you walk into most sports bars in this state (mainly out of NOLA that is) and everything is LSU, Saints, and even Southern or minor league baseball before you'll see anything for the Hornets.

Hearing Monty talk about that killed me. I moved to Shreveport from Baton Rouge not long before this season started. I went to about 30 games over the 2 seasons before this one while living in BR. Absolutely kills me to see the same empty seats and not really be able to do anything about it. I plan to make a trip down around my birthday, but yea missing all these games is killing me. Especially after hearing Monty.

that's another problem in Louisiana. a lot of front runners who would rather cheer for the visiting team just because ESPN tells them to rather than cheer for the team in their backyard.

It takes ZERO pride to be a fan of a team like that. Nobody cares about you or the fact that you'll be at any games.
