Looking for a pistol box to keep bedside. The little one will be crawling around soon and want some way to secure it better. Whats the OB recommendations? I looked into the GunVault line, but read some bad reviews when it came to battery life, etc.

TIA

I looked at several for the same reason and ended up not getting anything. I moved the pistol from the nightstand to the top of the chest of drawers.

Well out of his reach for many years to come, plus he doesnt know its there anyway.

I can get to it faster there than I could if it was in a safe bedside.

Gunvault. I've had a microvault under my truck seat for at least 3 years now and haven't changed the batteries.

My dad has a bedside gunvault, screwed down to his nightstand. I definitely recommend it.

ETA: Don't get that fingerprint scanner nonsense, I heard that stuff isn't very reliable.

stack on
stack-on pds 500
i bought this one about a month ago when they had a deal on it for 34 bucks shipped. surprisingly, it is a pretty durable safe. i ditched the cheap batteries and put some good ones in. it will not deter a thief, as most light safes will not, but for the price, i can assure you that it will work for what you need( saftey for small children). it can bolt into your night stand. might want to check it out. i am 100% satisfied.

+1. I just dont think I'd have the ability to unlock one/use a keypad if I happen to wake up to an intruder in the house.

+1 for Stack-On, I have the $35 version from Amazon and fits my CZ, 2 mags and a pocket knife.

yeah i hear ya, it is a fine line to walk with kids around though. i have a 5 year old girl who thankfully knows better than to go through my shite, for now at least. i keep a pistol in every major room of my house, the safe was purchased for other valuables.it is easily accessable though if you use geometric code pattern.

Very true. The GunVault I looked at had the touch tabs located on each finger where you lay your hand on top of it. I ruled that one out. I'll look into a conventional keypad one.

great info, thanks. I will have to do some further research into the Gunvault, i liked the idea of using the 4 finger quick combo, i like the price of the Stackon!

I have a gun vault. I've had it for at least two years and maybe 3. Haven't had to chage the batteries yet.

We have the gun vault and actually keep it plugged in the wall outlet with the batteries too. 4 buttons, any number of combinations. No complaints, just stay away from the fingerprint ones like someone else mentioned.
