Guess i like new and different. Its what has driven my passion for beers. Always wanting to try as many different beers as possible.
Like I would have a problem with that.
I was more commenting about when we start rating beers with a finite scale, you eventually have to start downgrading beers that you really enjoyed in the past. Ruination was brought up and you happen to provide the exact quote for it, so I used it. So you personally may have given Ruination a 90 when you first had it, but now that you have had Zombie Dust, Heady Topper, Hill Farmstead Beers, etc you are inclined to have to move Ruination down some pegs to 85 because there are now so many beers you think are better. Heady Topper being great does not make Ruination a lesser beer than it once was.

Excellent point.
By the way, long time no see. We should get together and throw some back soon.

I think this may be true the more beers you try. What your palate thought was great and revolutionary 5 years ago, you may find to be just above average now. So I'd agree there is somewhat of a sliding scale as you try more and more things.
10 years ago I thought Abita made great beer. The more beer I've had over the years, the more my opinion changes about Abita. Their stuff just doesn't stand up once you realize what else is out there.
But that's also not to say because you're used to eating ribeyes, NY strips and filets that you can't enjoy a burger or meatloaf every now and then as well.
