I think the Cutman Cometh might be the funniest episode of TV ever made.
Chuck 'The Cut Man' Kimmel: So strap yourselves in, folks. We're in for the night. 12 rounds from here at Bally's Park Place, just a stone's throw down the boardwalk from where a new Miss America was crowned just a few months ago. Miss Rochester, I believe it was.
Dan Rydell: Ok, well, Rochester's not a state, but we'll have somebody look that up.
Casey McCall: No, it's a city, Cut Man, in upstate New York. Contestants in the Miss America pageant have to come from one of the 50 states.
Chuck 'The Cut Man' Kimmel: Well, I hate to correct you on your own show, Casey, but there's 52 states with Alaska and Rhode Island.
Casey McCall: Ok.
Chuck 'The Cut Man' Kimmel: Though I'm no college professor, you see.
Dan Rydell: That's almost hard to believe, Cut Man.

I fell in love with Sports Night when I was in High School, during the original run. I loved it, because people forget that even back then there wasn't that level of cleverness, intelligence, complexity that we have in so many shows now. I got the DVD boxset for christmas the year it came out and am surprised I haven't worn out the plastic,

seems like it always pops up in the underrated shows or shows that didn't last long enough type threads. i like it. actually enjoy the pace as well.

I like it, but find it to be somewhat overrated on this board by the Sorkin fans
I'm not truly a Sorkin fan, but it's Top 5 all time half-hour for me.

Oh, Man, I LOVED that show. Unfortunately knew it wouldn't last as I couldn't get anyone else I knew to keep watching it.

Just started watching this.
Thought it'd be more of a comedy. Seems to be some serious issue every episode.
Just watched the Confederate Flag episode. So the running back didn't care about playing under the flag when he was the bench warmer, but wanted to cause a stir when he became starter?
The politics are a little much.

Have been thinking about starting this for awhile. Now is it dry funny, silly, or more dark humor?

More dry funny and silly.
It's not a bad time-killing watch. With only two seasons and 21 minute episodes, you could watch the whole thing in a few weeks while still watching other stuff.

The Rebel Flag show. The hunting show. They made me the same way about Sorkin that Lynnard Skynnard felt about Neil Young.
Plus the Christmas show. Nobody climbs Mt. Everest in December.

Not a bad show. Like all Sorkin shows, the dialogue got old after a while. Same jokes over and over as well. I'm not upset that I watched it but it's not a classic, IMO

Finished the series yesterday.
I had forgotten how they ended things, and how quickly they got around to that plot (I assume because of the cancellation). But all in all, it ended decently enough, and I'm really glad I went back and rewatched the series.
I'll reiterate that it's a fantastic series, but admit that it's not for everyone. But I, for one, love(d) it and would recommend it to anyone looking to watch a fast-paced, funny, solid show. And I agree that it's easy to watch since there are only two seasons and each episode is only about 20/21 minutes long.

I watched the whole series in about a week or so. And that was with watching other stuff.
Definitely worth a watch. Don't think I'd put it at the top of any of my TV series lists though.

Haven't watched it since the original airing. Thought it had potential but just tried too hard to be serious and thought provoking. I'm not just talking about the P.C. stuff either; there was one episode where an anchor calls his kid to stay up and watch some runner break a record to show him that there was still good in sports or something. You could tell Sorken was expecting everyone to get teary-eyed at his masterful dramatic build up, but it fell flat.

Yeah, that was the pilot episode...some parts are kinda cheesy, but they didn't bother me too much.

Sorkin wears me out. I attempted to watch it after the super shitty Studio 60 and its fairly redundant.

I definitely can see how that could annoy people. Even in my OP I had said:

The acting and dialogue is VERY fast-paced, and there is a lot of back and forth/repeating of things, and that can seem annoying at times
