Is that why LSU struggled to beat the worst auburn team in decades? Because the talent level of the 2 teams is so close?
The problem with AU game wasn't playcalls, it was execution.
LSU had RZ malfunctions, but it's not like the staff said we want 2 1st downs inside the 25.
TD plays were called, just not executed to fruition.

LSU shut it down offensively after the first two drives. One of which, if I remember correctly was a turnover in or near the end zone.

yeah, it's always the execution.
It was an extremely vanilla offense after the first two drives, which were producing yardage. After the first two possessions, the next 7 gained a total of 70 yards with 5 punts and two fumbles. The two fumbles came on drives that netted zero yards.
Let's play along with your premise that this offensive sluggishness is just because players aren't producing. After 4-5 years, you wouldn't think it;s no longer just a player problem?

How many players has auburn had declare early for the draft? How many players do they expect to have drafted this year?
Where have ole miss recruiting classes been ranked in comparison to Lsu's? What about arkansas?

Ah yes, the old faithful execution argument. The same one that been made for the last 5 years. The only problem with that is in college the players are only allowed to play for 4 years, at most. So if the players are constantly changing, but the execution still stays the same, what does that tell you?
