You can trap up to 20-30 at a time.

Despite most peoples beliefs hog are very intellegent animals and it is difficult to kill enough at once to really knock a dent in the population due to reproductive rates by simply hunting.

Yeah, for some reason they move a lot during the day where we hunt. They move at night too, but we have a serious problem. It helps having a pipeline to hunt on, they cross it very often. When we're hunting hogs though, we get down and go after them. You can hear a group of them from a pretty good distance. You can track them to their beds also, if the ground is soft enough.
We hunt in a 3 or 4 square mile area that has a ton of inaccessable areas due to thick underbrush in the woods. Hogs have plenty of places to bed down in safety during the day and have become nocturnal. It seems they've turned the deer that way to by moving them all night. The hog population has exploded and it's been rare to see deer at all this season.

Google judas pig, but I read up on it and really want to try it. Basically catch a young hog and put a tracking collar on it. Let it go and it will be back with the pack shortly. Track it to the herd, surround, move in and blast away. The tracking collar techlonology is almost there( battery life/ long range gps units) to make this really effective.

I have been following this thread with the intensity.

All of a sudden at the same time the gmen are making plans to confiscate weapons, this guy has more hogs than he can handle? hmmmm.......how convenient.

Everyone is encouraged to come on out, bring their ASSault rifles and enjoy the fun......

I sure hope it's the hogs that are getting trapped!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get you.

What is the land like? Any open areas like in my video? Talked to my cousin, and he's said he'd come down in a heartbeat. If you want to get in touch over email let me know we'd love to make this happen.

Therin lies the problem. We hunt a timber lease. Thick woods and swampy areas. The timber company will clear cut a spot here or there but a good bit of the land is full of dense underbrush and is pretty much inaccessable. Makes for great hiding/bedding spots for deer and hogs but sucks if you are trying to kill those hogs. I'm starting to think that mass trapping, then slaughtering, is the way to go.
