Usually 3 or 4 1 day and 4 or 5 the next ... don't run more than 3 days as I'm too afraid of injury.

re: My running friends, I got my 10 miles +!!

12 three saturdays ago, 14 last saturday, 15.5 this saturday...I'm running my second full marathon at the end of February (Mardi Gras marathon in NOLA).

To this day, I think the 13.1 is the best race - distance is just hard enough that its not easy to do, but its not too hard that you kill yourself. With that said, I plan on doing 1 or 2 marathons a year, as I like the feeling of accomplishing something relatively rare - running 26.2.

First marathon I ran in 3:58. I will be roughly the same time for this one.

Congrats. Glad you didn't punk out on us.

My longest treadmill run was 11 miles. I was training for a half, and it was -5 degrees outside and snowing. I hated it! I do run on treadmills a lot since I travel for work and am in hotels a lot (I now pick my hotels based in the gym), but nothing beats a good long outside run.
As for the pain - rest and ice. It seems simple but it works. Also tell your husband he needs to service you tonight. That makes it better!
Great job, again, and good luck at the race.

re: My running friends, I got my 10 miles +!!

THANKS Maniac!!! Truly appreciate it.

Hamburglar, I will NEVER EVER do a marathon...mark my words. This is already kicking my arse ... although I am already thinking I want to do the Woman's Half Marathon (would have done 10k this year) next year (couldn't this year -- dtr had The Nutcracker performance).

And Dunson, I'm a punk but wasn't going to punk out! It was nasty ... after 2.5 miles, took off the gloves and top layer leaving short sleeves and my headband. I wasn't REALLY cold but when I stopped and got in the car I was FREEZING my arse off. Took quite a while to warm up.

My concern is that I ran last summer late at night .. 8 or so .. and only 2 or 3 miles with some walking. I was still new at it (still am) but how the hell am I going to keep going? I don't have plans for another have until earliest being next fall ... LATE fall ... so is 3 miles a few times a week good enough?

And also, Dunson, I'm too pooped -- have done 3 or 4 loads of laundry AND cooked dinner for the fam (no sammiches here!)!!

Congrats

That's what I'm trying to work up to. The longest I've ever run at once was 8.5, so I'm almost there with you. Keep on keepin' on

Maniac, the weekend before I'm running a 10k in BR ... you put 10 for me ... can I split it up or swap it with another day?

after the race, take a week off. Then just run casually for a few weeks. Don't burn yourself out. Work back up to another half marathon in 6 months or so. You will feel much better after a year when you have a good foundation.

I agree that the half marathon is a great distance and race. It is easy to train for especially if not trying to PR. This is my second marathon I train for but will be my first one completed bc of a virus for the first one. It's just so much time training for a full. Every Saturday am way from my two kids, the deer stand and duck blind

You are the bomb ... and all my runs are slow ... not easy but slow. I'm not fast -- I don't know if it'll ever improve but I'm sure as hell trying!
