And if they aren't built with enough space in the slots they tend to stick when the wood swells. Then you make alot of noise trying to get them open. We have one that you need a small tool box to open and it's one our better spots. Don't use string if your windows are hinged. You'll have some dingbat pull one the string only to open the window and after a couple of pulls the string frays and the window is shut until you can repair it. What really sucks is when you drive 7 hrs to the camp and climb in a stand before daylight only to find one of local members broke the string and then didn't fix it.
