re: Can't do gun control by Executive Order (Posted on 1/7/13 at 9:59 am to wiltznucs)
quote: Obamacare wasn't an Executive Order and was watered down significantly from it's original form. Healthcare reform was imminent regardless of political affiliation due to unsustainable spending in light of lengthening life expectancy and increasing cost of care. In addition, it was found to be Constitutional by the Supreme Court.
Its a shame almost none of this was addressed in obamacare.
I agree with your opinion on any gun control coming. I am afraid of a comprimise on magazines though.
As you can see from a 12/19 - 12/22 poll 62% of Americans believe that there should be a restriction on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
It is also the least difficult to defend - thus the easiest to attack. This is where the real debate is going to land. Each side will stake out their sides, but magazine capacity is where the real fight is going to end.
BUT, people need to take a look at the make up of the US House. Nothing major is going to move that chamber. First, the chamber is controlled by members of the tea party. Second, you have a speaker (weak as he may be) that has all but said that he isn't going to deal with the President any more.
Chicken little screaming "the sky is falling" doesn't mean its going to happen.
