VetteGuy sounds like he knows what he is talking about, and that seems cheap for a 2011 X6

Just giving you the typical OT response

On big purchases though I will never buy used unless I absolutely know everything about it, like if the previous is my best friend etc. To each his own though, I will take piece of mind over saving a couple grand any day of the week.

I tried that earlier this week. Drove over an hour to dealership to buy and they told me that they mispriced it and the price was much higher than they said on phone so I walked out.

I am not up pricing like I used to be, but that feels cheap even for a coupe.

Sharp looking vee-hickle, though.

re: Another fail at buying a car ...

My truck is a salvage from the April 27 tornado, but my wife's uncle is the one who salvaged it and did all the repair work. New doors, new glass, new interior, pulled a few dings, and it's good to go at a much lower price.

On the other hand, I wouldn't have bought a salvaged car from someone I didn't know and trust. Kind of hard for him to avoid me if it doesn't go well.

FWIW, it has a huge "salvaged vehicle" sticker in the door panel and that is noted on the title, too.

I forgot what the exact term is but the are suppose to honor a offer once it has been made, the same exact situation happened to me with the new truck I bought Wed. They honored it and I got it 15K off the MSRP.

I see your point but the depreciation over a couple years is close to 15K and with low miles still under warranty. Ive bought used bmws this way with great success. And one new Mercedes that was a fn lemon. Ill take my chances with bmw.

Salvage cars come in many different flavors.
Theft and recovery, wreck, wind hail, aren't too bad, if they are put back together right.

A flood car is a damn mess, though.
They corrode from the inside out and they are never really "right".
Plus, all those electronics under the seats get replaced, but not the wire harnesses. No matter how cheap they are, they aren't cheap enough.

re: Another fail at buying a car ...

I hear ya, trucks hold there value way to well so it doesn't make sense to buy used unless you find a situation like I said earlier. However them telling you they quoted you the wrong price once you got there is BS, you diff should have fought them on that.

I like the X6's a lot. Good luck on your quest. I too refuse to be the sucker to take the initial depreciation hit on a new car off the lot.

Yeah, I hear that. One of my cousins had a pretty well publicized court case against a Ford dealer in Florida who sold them a car that had been under salt water in Corpus Christi, TX. It rusted from the inside out.

re: Another fail at buying a car ...

Why an x6? I was in the pickup line at MSY once and there was a guy in front of me in an x6. He picked up 3 people and their luggage (one rolling bag each). I watched as he tried in vain to fit even two of those bags in the back. He ended up putting one between the two back seats and made one lucky passenger hold hers on her lap. It was pathetic - a 335i wouldn't have had any trouble fitting all that.

Get a CPO X5 diesel and be happier.

IT for the past 25 years.

Cars are a hobby, used to buy and sell a few, wholesale.
Rebuilt a total or 2 back in the old days.
Still like slinging the Vette around a track when I get some free time.
