Two Piss Ant Bowls Amidst the BCS?

Why are bowls involving the likes of the Kent State, Arkansas State, and Ole Miss played after January 1st? Does anybody know the rationale?

It's to spread out the major bowls so they can build up hype for each one.

there was plenty of hype back in the days when the three non-Championship BCS bowls were on one day and the Championship was a couple days later.

dumb move but they wanted to have a bowl game very day after NYE leading up to the BCS title game.

It allows everyone to watch the games and opens up a larger market of viewers. Also, people will watch more of their daily broadcast leading up to the games.

They added the 5th bcs game and need a week to change the field and shite. Want nonstop action between.

To me they kinda messed up the progression. Shouldn't they be building toward a climax, the championship, with each game a little closer in quality to the next until you finally reach the BCS title tilt?

A buddy of mine went to ole piss and he's going to birmingham this weekend from south florida. I'm laughing now, but if they win, I'll be annoyed. I had very little idea where the akbars were going to a bowl, but when I found out this bow tie wearing fool was going to birmingham, I figured it out pretty quick. The compass bowl should be played around Christmas.
