Well I didn't say his advice was flawless. This is the same man that told his doctor that he cut back his drinking because Evan Williams was cheaper than jack Daniels.

That's great stuff. I took our Akita for a walk around the golf course today. The fields have about 2 feet of snow in them. Haven't had decent snow on the ground since winter of 2010. It was really cool watching the Akita run and play in the snow today. I am constantly fascinated by that dog. She will root around in snow and find all sorts of shite under it. It is completely instinctual and amazing to watch. I have zero doubt she would pull me out the snow if I was ever in danger.

That portuguese water dog looks like it sheds to much. What sheds more blue heeler or Yorkie?

They all shed. You don't sound like a person who should own a dog.

I had labs forever and when we were looking to get a new dog, we did a bunch of research. We got a Portuguese Water Dog. They are super smart, great with people and kids, don't bark a lot, and do not shed AT ALL. They have hair instead of fur, so you have to keep them groomed but seriously, no shedding. Our dog has the same sire as the Obama's dog. They are pretty pricey ($2,500) and there are not a ton of breeders. We had to get our's from Memphis. I will never get another breed. This is our Murphy.

BROffshore insists that it does. Your argument is invalid.

Yorkie's are for pussies, so you should get one.

They don't shed at all. I have one. I explained above but they have hair, not fur. If you never groomed them and cut their hair, they would look like Cousin It - it would just keep growing and growing. You do have to either spend time or money grooming them because they can get really matted up if you don't keep up with their hair. That time and money is worth not having everything in your house covered in hair.

I think all dogs shed...as does any other animal that is covered with hair... one of my favorite dogs is the german shorthaired pointer...the hair is so short, that you get the illusion of not much shedding. they are also a shorter dog than labs and have a much lighter frame, so they are not nearly as clumsy as labs and much easier on things if you plan to keep them inside... as long as you walk them regularly and take them outside to play they are damn fine house dogs...

I bring mine once every two months. And we shave him. shite grows fast. ETA - I don't have a Portuguese Water Dog if that's what you're referring to.

Depends how you want them groomed. I would think about every 6-8 weeks is about right. You can do it yourself too.

Ah, my bad. I either shave Murphy myself or take him to the groomers every second or third month as well. I seriously will never have another breed. Where did y'all get your's?
