I think it is a sport as it involves amateur athletes "student athletes".

If that were the case I figure the world would be pretty well-off right now.

Considering that that the football program funds other non-revenue sports and pours millions into the general academic fund, I have not one issue with it.

Saban LOVES being pursued. He'll say no like he did to Miami and Bama. He just wants one to keep coming, keep stroking and beg him the right way and he goes. If they don't keep stroking and begging he stays but its got nothing to do with his "love" for Bamaland either way. Saban loves himself and money.

Whatever gets you through the night, princess. I know it still hurts. It's visible in every sentence you type about the man. He didn't love MSU enough to stay more than 5 yrs. he didn't love LSU enough to stay more than 5 yrs. He is in year 6 at Bama though.

Whether he "loves us" or not doesn't really matter to me. What matters to me - and most Bama fans - is how well he does his job. He is exceptional at it, as I'm sure you'll readily admit.

The fact that NFL teams are violating protocol about contacting a college coach before the season ends isn't a surprise. The fact that teams are pursuing Saban isn't a surprise.

No such rule or protocol exists.

More money. If he beats Notre Dame on Monday I would offer him a contract that would make him the highest paid coach in football, and that is including the National Football League.

Laugh my fricking arse off.

Why the hell would you pay a guy NFL money that couldn't even succeed in the NFL?

Their success in the NFL is the exact reason why he will go back. I guarantee that he feels that if they can do it, then he can. His time at Miami wasn't a failure.

He probably will stay, but his name wouldn't be out there if him and his people didn't put it out there.

You should read the Rant sometimes. LSU fans are really paranoid about Saban.

You gotta love the selective self righteous indignation from some fans. Alabama was "ruining college football" when they offered Saban $4 million dollars a year to be head coach but the Yankees paying at least ONE player 5 times that amount isn't a big deal. Alabama fans will stop feeling guilty about Saban's salary the minute pro fans start feeling guilty about the absurd salaries being paid to professional athletes.

Yeah, people never bitch about the Yankees spending money.

I only use the Yankees as they are the extreme example. Even very "poor" pro franchises all have at least 1 player making at least 3 times what Saban does. The point is that many in the media blasted Alabama and Alabama fans for Saban's salary when he was hired yet they don't bat an eye at the absurd salaries paid to the players on their favorite pro team. It's extremely hypocritical.

disagree.

he might be worth that much to a school like Texas, which needs a shot in the arm to reinvigorate their program, fan base and casual donors (just as UA needed in 2006). i doubt that doubling his salary would increase revenue to the point of justifying such a pay raise.
