BBC America has been running the series aggressively since before X mas. This show is 25 years old and it keeps getting better. Aside from Frakes's and Burton's acting, there is no fault in this series.

The intrigue and complexity of the plots rival anything on TV today.

Or am I wrong?

(FWIW, in a Thunderdome cage match with Jean Luc Picard facing every other Star Trek captain, he would wreck shop. Team Picard here.)

i pulled this up on netflix last week and have watched the first 2 eps and while they're formulaic, they're pretty interesting. i'm sure i'm going to get bored by the episodic nature of the series though (and it's so long)

Then why did he need Kirk's help in Generations.

Yeah, most of the best episodes were 2-parters, had recurring characters and/or were part of an ongoing storyline.

I've never attempted to watch TNG, as big of a trek fan as I am. I've watched episodes here and there as they aired in syndication back in the day.

I just started x files last month. I'll probably do TNG next, then voyager (which I started a while back but just couldn't get into).

I'm no aficionado, but I seem to recall that sort of thing getting better in the later seasons with characters like Q.

Also, I refuse to see any merit in the holodeck episodes.

Yeah, too much "ghost in the machine" BS.

TNG holds up reasonably well. I researched the show finale last week. Pretty good but I don't think I could watch the entire series again.

I spot watched episodes when I was younger but was never that into it. I'm about 12 episodes in and it is holding my attention. I just haven't had time to watch it the past few weeks with the holidays.

Except that annoying little kid never gets his brain eaten by a space vampire.

I ran through the whole series about 6 months to a year ago. I liked it a lot. Funny this thread popped up because I put one on randomly the other night. Great show that is fun to revisit.

I think I like it because it presents a positive / optimistic /"better" future as opposed to a post-apocalyptic one. The story also has solid characters and explores interesting topics, like the "what is a sentient being" Data episode. Frankly, it was a show with morals.

Yeah, most sci-fi today is not. Ironically, though, many of the most popular TNG episodes are the dark ones.

As a kid I was told that Warf's head was made out of peanut butter. I still kind of believe it.

which show are you talking about? I never watched the X-Files. I am a big TNG fan, but the first 2 seasons are the worst.

This is definitely my fav series in the trek universe. There are a lot of really good TNG eps!
