I should buy. I'm giving my oldest boy my current rifle and I will buy a new one.
Prolly 30.06 caliber. And will put Leopold scope on it.
Rank the following; Winchester, Remington, Browning, Savage and give me one other brand I should look at.

If you are looking at a bolt action they are all pretty much the same damn gun. Personally I use a remmington 700 .308 with a nikon scope.

Tikka, off the shelf the best gun under a $1000, easily adjustable trigger, detachable magazine,
Also look at the new ruger if yu want quality for about $400

I have a Weatherby .308 which I'm giving to him. t was one of those "all in one" deals Bushnell Banner Scope and synthetic black stock.
We've beat the .270 vs 30.06 to death. I like a bigger caliber because to the "shock and awe"

Browning
Remington
Savage-only because of the new trigger designs and enhancements
Winchester- Sorry, great guns but not as good as the others when comparing bang for your buck IMHO.

I'd look at the Weatherby Vanguard again or at Tikka. If shock and awe is the goal get a Mark V Weatherby in any of the proprietary Weatherby Magnums and let her rip...

Browning Xbolt. The fit and finish are top notch. They also cost more than Remingtons and Tikkas but look and feel much better. Honestly, the Tikkas are great shooting rifles but look like shite. If I am paying that much money on a rifle and Leupold scope on top, I would spend a little bit more to get something nice.
I like the 06 and own two of them but went with a 300 WSM due to the shorter action and shorter barrel. My Xbolt will clover leaf 5 shots at 100 yards.

I have a remington 700 in 300 win magand it's a good gun. If you want to check out alternate brands look at the ruger american. I bought my son one and would much rather shoot it than mine. It is ugly as hell but it's a tack driver. The accutriger on it is crisp and it's affordable

I don't think it is bad looking , but that is a matter of opinion, and my t3 will put 3 shots in a 3/4 inch group at 200 yards, and I am not a good shot

I gotta ruger 7 mag and Remington 30.06
Both great guns.
Browning moreso shotguns than rifles.

79, this is like asking which truck is the best..
Everyone has their own opinion on what they have and what they've heard..
Before the last boating accident, I had pruned my deer rifles down to 2, TC Encore and Rem 700, both in 7 mag. I shot the Encore single shot 95% of the time..
damn high tide on Bayou De Loutre...
