Sweet Tea recipe?

Trying to save a little money by making my own sweet tea. I've experimented with so many different water:tea bags:sugar ratios over the past couple weeks and haven't found the right recipe yet (for a gallon).
What do y'all do?

1 gallon = 4 tea bags, microwaved for 5 minutes, and steeped until cool in a large pyrex measuring cup, or can be cooked on the range top.
2 level cups of sugar. Stir well to disolve all the sugar. It is best to let it sit overnight before serving.

frick that! I love hot sweet tea.
You could also just buy a tea maker or use a coffee maker.

Sweet tea is meant to be served cold over ice. I like hot green tea, without sweetener. Hot sweet tea seems almost unethical.
Opinions vary. You like what you like.

boiling works,, BUT buy you a cheap coffee maker and make your tea ONLY in that coffee maker.. put 2 or 3 family sized bags in the pot after you pour most of a pot of water in the maker...Or you can put the bags where the coffee filters go.. turn on, let it brew, wait about 20 minutes for it to steep. pour in tea pitcher, stir in a cup of sugar or more to taste while tea is still warm or hot, fill gallon jug up with water... stick in fridge for the next day. always have one for the next day..the end.

I know, but I always enjoy making myself a glass of freshly brewed sweet tea while it's still warm.
Agree 100%

A dirty sock makes the best coffee.

Or just eat a couple spoon fulls of coffee with a chaser of hot water

The key to good sweet tea is to add the sugar to hot liquid like you do for a simple syrup. More of the sugar dissolves into the liquid. I don't have any regular measures. I just keep adding sugar to the hot tea until it stops melting then I add cold water and ice until I get the right level of sweetness. I usually sqeeze and toss a half a lemon into the pitcher with the tea.
I like a strong tea flavor, so I typically use about 7 tea bags in about a quart of boiling water to start, and I make about two gallons at a time.
