Could they have waited it out? Sure. But what really was there to lose by making a change? The seed was already planted and the player/coach separation starting becoming bigger than the team. They'd only be delaying the inevitable.
Now with that said, I don't think Avery is a bad coach... he sucked there and just wasn't a good fit. At the end of the day it's all about results... and the New Jersey and Brooklyn Nets weren't getting it done. Larry Brown was a very good coach... but he sucked in a lot of places too.

If it is a locker room problem and there is a huge disconnect between Avery and Deron and the team then I agree. But the Jazz offense comment to Utah media reporters was overblown and didn't show a complete lack of respect to Avery or anything. But if there was more going on behind the scenes it would make sense.
But he wasn't the huge failure in NJ that you and others are making him out to be. He never had the talent until this year and he overachieved with his team for one month then underachieved another. Leaving them with around the record most would have predicted.
