It's partly my fault as I did not get the extended warranty, BUT I expected it to last longer than a year. Literally 12.5 months after purchase is when I started having major issues and they agreed my machine is a "lemon" (their words), and since it was two weeks out of warranty, they said "sorry, there's nothing we can do".
My only recourse is to just never buy Toshiba again.

Asus. Had mine for six months now, a G74, and it is a champ. Much better than the HP's and Dell's I've had.

Would one like this be a good idea?

BilJ -You might be able to save a little money other places, but buying through Apple has 12+ months no interest financing and I like the idea of me keeping my money as long as possible any time I can.

I love the retina display on my iPad but don't need it on my MacBook Pro (17"). It's 1920 X 1080 (or 1200 too lazy to look it up) and the resolution and image is great for me. Unless you're doing serious photo work and need the extra resolution I don't see it as a deal maker or breaker.

I've heard good things about the new Visio laptops
Whatever you go with make sure you get an SSD hard drive
