Williams? Just GTFO
1.
for a guy who has been in league 1 less year and has 47 td's to sproles 33, 2000 more non special teams yds, I think your reaction is a little overblown.
Deangelo williams has 4.9 avg for rushing and 8.5 for receiving.
Sproles has 5.2 for rushing and 9 for receiving
But; d.williams also has over 600 more touches in his career which imo, makes his stats a little more impressive. If you give sproles that many, his avgs would surely go down.
If you take sproles 2 yrs in NOLA away, he gets blown out of the water by deangelo williams. Is it a stretch to believe that d.williams would experience a similar boost? Plus hes more viable as a straight runner which lends to some unpredictability.
Sproles does hold on to the ball alot better which would be the deciding factor for this regime. I also believe Deangelo just got a massive contract if I'm not mistaken which also is a big factor.
All in all, I'm not sure I would give up sproles for d.Williams, but if it somehow did happen in some alternate universe, I don't feel like we would drop off at all.
My point is basically, you come into the most hypothetical of hypothetical threads and act like d.williams is trash to sproles; I feel it is debatable.
2.
As far as Mcfadden goes, it's also debatable. He's going to play 12 games this year to sproles' 13. It isn't far fetched to belive that he would stay healthier if he wasnt literally the only player worth a crap on that offense. He has nice hands aswell.
Now I feel like chad trying to keep arguments going but to act like sproles is in another league than d.williams and mcfadden makes it seem like you haven't ever seen any nfl other than saints football.
I look at this question as, if sproles didnt exist; who would I want because obviously sproles isnt going anywhere
Kendall Hunter
Pierre Thomas
Joe McKnight
Dexter McCluster
Ronnie Brown
Devin Hester
^this list is a little ridiculous though.

We got to cut one in the offseason, who would you cut. This is Chad504boy offseason fun.
i will entertain this ridiculous thought that we cant keep both.
Darren Sproles, and it isnt even close. He contributes heavily to the run game, passing game, AND special teams. Morgan? [crickets chirping]
Sproles has and will always touch the ball way more than Morgan ever will as a WR, and Sproles is a threat to take it to the house every time he does.

Morgan you hermaphrodite.

How about cut mofos that don't deserve to be on the team right now? Like, I don't know, Sedrick Ellis?
His rookie contract is ending this year. No need to cut him. Besides, he was in a contract year and should have been performing at a higher level than he did. He won't be a Saint next year.

Sproles turns 30 next year and cause of his shortness and having to take more steps to get the same distance as taller running backs, his knees are aging 28% faster so he's really like turning 33 almost.

I'm letting Devery walk. He has had his time and probably stayed on a lot longer due to his professionalism and hard work, than he should have based upon talent. However, for sake of this crappy game I would cut Morgan over 43 any day of the week. Sproles has chemistry with Drew that is second to none.

Colston, Graham, Lance are pissed at you right now.

ISWYDT but I would argue that taller backs have more wear and tear as there are greater verticle forces being reacted to by the knees.
AKA, they fatter
AKA, they fatter

they will cut Devery before Morgan and Cadet before Sproles....not going to cut Morgan or Sproles.

So you've been eyeballing Morgan's muscles eh?
In the hypothetical you have proposed, I say cut Morgan, but realistically I don't think either is going anywhere.
Now, you mentioned PT vs Morgan, and before this season I would have laughed that off as crazy talk, however, PT has inexplicably fallen off the coaches play chart somehow. I seriously hope that changes when CSP returns, but if he is to be used with the same irregularity that he was this year, then I would say cut PT and keep Morgan.

Morgan only makes sense to keep if you cut Devery and give him Devery's reps.

Agreed. I think Morgan will officially and completely replace Devery next season.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE PT...like big time man crush second only to Drew Brees....but he just wasn't used a whole lot this season, and if that's what they intend to do (or not do) with him, then I think we would be better served saving some money. That said, I'd rather they just give him more reps and keep him.

Hard to say with ersatz coaching staff. PT seemed to flourish in a Payton offense. Also still money on the screens.

Neither one, but if we must, then it's Morgan.

Are you talking about the same Pierre Thomas that is second on the team in offensive touches? The worst is that Ingram has the most touches on the team (though it is only 2 more than PT).
Edit: Also, (serious question) has Morgan caught a pass that wasn't a deep route? It seems like it took Henderson a few years to learn how to run good shorter routes.
