OBers,

I have purchased duck calls from $10 all the way to $115, but I still always reach for my Haydel DR-85 first. I have 3 on my lanyard along with a Haydel Teal call and a Haydel Red Leg.

So, to the OB, what do you carry on your lanyard, and which is your favorite?

its all what you feel confident in, you've probably had some ducks work really good when calling with the DR85 and thats what you go with.

i always reach for my echo

Looks just like the one in your signature pic only all scratched up from years of use. Only carry it and a woody call.

I know this is going to be weird, but my new favorite is a buck gardner. I got it for free with my delta waterfowl membership, so its a realtively cheap call with thier 100 year anniversary on it. I had birds in a frenzy over it the other day.

+1 on the echo, I love the sound although the damn reeds lock up too often. Anyone else get this?

I got the green acrylic. It only happens if I blow it a bit and then let it sit, when I come back to it it's locked up.

Exact reason why mine is in the bag. I like the way it sounds, but it gets hard as hell to do a feed call when the reeds start to stick

I knew that was why it locked up, just other calls I have blown the same way don't lock up.

Primos Wench and Echo XLT Timber, both in Smoke acrylic. Also have a custom double reed that I got from Will Primos for graduation, all of them sound good, especially the echo if you know what you're doing. I use the wench as a teal call by not covering the tuning hole, its money. I keep a high roller whistle and electrical stimulator on my lanyard too for when the pooch is feeling froggy

On my lanyard right now is a Riceland acrylic speck Haydel's blue wing whistle and grey duck rnt MVP and daisy cutter. I switch all the rnts around and didn't change from yesterday when it was a blue bird day. I frequently use the old style and original on "duckier" days. Short barrel is bad out of tune although its one of my favorites. My Microhen has never seen my lanyard.

I knew the second you said calls from $10-$115 that one was going to by a DR-85. I have two calls on my lanyard a GK Call Girl and a DR-85.

I have three calls on my lanyard.

One is a Smokin Suzi made by Haydel. It is great when I need a louder call. Easy to call and she can sing. Generally blow it in the marsh or fields.

The next one is a handmade cocobolo. Its a softer call that is awesome for the timber. It was made my a guy in TN that who is a local legend. It looks a lot like the one to the far left.

The next one is my widgeon whistle. Only bring that out when I hear a widgeon, see a pintail or can't find my damn dog whistle.
