Does anyone on this board have a sweet long range setup... I got to shoot a guys Savage 10/110 in .338 lapua this weekend. He had a Night Force scope... it was a sweet setup.

We blew some balloons up took a few shots from around 700 yards... never hit them but it was damn fun... When we were shooting we thought they were around 500/550 yards away so we used the wrong yardage markers on the scope.

makes me want a long range setup... but i'm not gonna tie that much money up.

I used to shoot the m-24 with a lot of success at that distance. Although you can't buy one you could put one together fairly cheap and almost identical.

I have a rem 700 sendero sf-ii with a mcmillan stock, jewel trigger, and a meopta 4-16x44 scope. I also run berger 168 vld's through it. It will punch them pretty good at 600 all day. That is the farthest I have been able to shoot sadly.

Despite popular belief, you only have to tie up a lot of money if you want to. A Remington ltr 700 with a nice scope is a hell of a combo.

Only 700 yards with that 338? Hardly worth pulling the trigger with the ammo costs.

Everyone here knows I shoot a 260 Remington, I've had it out to 1000 and its still supersonic. Ill try to get it out further when we for hunting in January.

BTW- it's a great, easy set up for anyone to shoot far with an accurate ballistics table. Dial the drop, and most any decent shooter has no issues at 500-plus yards with it.
