No but that looks cool. Any idea how hard it will be to clean?

They're great. But the one I have uses 4 quarts of oil per fry. That's a good thing, except for the expense.

Read some reviews and it says its real good at holding the temperature steady with the 1800 watt element. Ive always had temp fluctuation issues

Thats the major downfall... I need to start filtering and reusing by grease.

I like the electric fryers, I had one and used it outside or in the garage to keep the smell out of the house. Nice to have...

Seriously. A funnel stuffed with a paper towel is all you need.

Damn Rat, you don't know how to filter and re-use frying oil?

I've got that one. Great on wings, and you can drop the wings in frozen. So I'll buy several family packs of wings to have a quicky available. You'll enjoy. Just don't overload the basket.

I've tried both coffee filters and paper towels. I just find the whole process messy and time consuming. And I guess I don't really fry that often.

I don't fry much either so I just toss it. But I keep a couple packs of cheesecloth in my cabinet and use it when I do strain. I find it works best.

You have to be sure the oil is not burned and if not strained it will go rancid.

I use a metal strainer and pour it back into the jug when I'm done. Coffee filters take forever.

One of the best features of this type of fryer is that the heating element is immersed in the oil. This accomplishes 2 things:

First, it allows quick heating of the oil, and second, it allows bits of debris to fall below the heating element, thereby making them less likely to burn.

Used one of those for years until I remodeled my kitchen and dropped in one of these babies:

As for filtering, I use a fine mesh SS strainer prior to a funnel stuffed with cheesecloth. Find the paper towel and coffee filter blind off too quickly, especially if the oil is cool.
