Some stupid douchebag at CNN said it was the worst film of the year. And he said nothing about the film mind you, just the technology behind it, you know something that as soon as it comes out on Blu-Ray is not going to make a damn bit of difference to the quality of the movie in and of itself. Plus I saw it in 2-D, which makes his complaints an absolute non-issue for me. We've got a new Armond White on our hands gentlemen. LINK

That guy. I don't get how he could get a job with a major network like CNN. Some editor didn't come in and say "umm, dude, yeah we're not posting this." Its fine if you didn't like it, but none of the reasons he mentioned should be why a movie is the worst of the year.

yes. production companies will often release low quality (yet still very watchable, basically standard def DVDs) to critics, friends, whoever and often times someone will upload that to the internet this has happened a lot with this years movies Lincoln, zero dark thirty, skyfall, an the hobbit have already made their way to the internet and before anyone jumps down my back saying to support the people who make the movies, I already spent my 20 dollars at the theater opening night to see the hobbit. so my conscience is fairly clear

well one way I make myself feel better is by saying, 'well, if i went out and spent 20 bucks on the dvd, i could rip it to my harddrive any time I want" and I'll probably still end up buying the blue ray because blue ray torrents can kinda suck

I still don't get the hate for 48fps. I have never seen better night shots or scenes in darkness. It made the special effects cleaner than anything I have ever seen. I constantly attack 3D as a gimmick and not worthy of my money but if all 48fps films look that crisp and clear, I would pay for it.

alright i just got back from watching it here is my thoughts if anyone cares: Let me start with this Bilbo >>>>>>>>>> Frodo The movie started off good I really liked that they showed a little backstory on the dwarf kingdom i don't think they did in the book. The next hour and a half or so was mediocre at best. I really think it would've served them well to make this 2 movies instead of three. They took some liberties in adapting from the book but i was ok with most of them. I liked that they made Thorin and the dwarves into more heroic and brave figures rather than the clumsy useless ones from the book. I did not enjoy the cartoon character like portrayals of the dwarves outside a few of them. Gandalf bugged me a little at times he seemed to act like a whiny child instead of the gandalf we all know. Enough with the negatives though the last hour and fifteen of the movie picked up greatly. Starting around the time they reached the elf kingdom it turned into what i expected and wanted. I really liked the necromancer part and welcomed that addition to the hobbit. From this point on the movie seemed more game of thrones and less mother goose. The bilbo and gollum scene was all it was hyped up to be, loved it. The ending was perfect imo. I felt they ended it on a great note and set up for the next one. Overall it felt like two drastically different movies. I really believe shortening it into 2 movies instead of a trilogy would've gave them a shot at greatness as the story could've progressed a little quicker. The beginning seemed to drag and really felt more like a children's movie. However, the ending definitely left me anticipating the next one. I would rate it a 6.5/10 The latter part of the movie was great but the beginning was tough to overcome. I'll say again with 2 movies i believe they could've made this worthy of an 8 or 9.

He liked it. He really really liked it 7 to a 6.5 that might be the worst review someone has put so far and from anyone I've spoken too. The beginning was so bad it knocked the movie all the way to a whopping 6.5 The beginning was great just like in the Fellowship.

after watching LOTR more this statement is 100% correct. Not hating on Frodo. Bilbo just did a better job

This didn't bother me because some of them were suppose to be goofy child like characters. The feel was perfect for the movie.
quote:

He did seem that way at the beginning. Hopefully he keeps on the latter gandalf in the next 2 which I'm sure he will with the pressure mounting.

The book was never made to be like GOT. That's what LOTR is there for. It is still a children's book per say when all said and done. If you thought that was mother goose then you would have felt the same for Fellowship at the beginning which is hilarious. The movie was darker than I expected it to be which I enjoyed. The music and sceneries in this movie are one of a kind The white council was great because you can see Saruman already giving in to sauron while Galadriel talks to Gandalf so no one can hear.

I'm sad Gollum isn't gonna be back. Can't wait for the trailer to Desolation of Smaug 9.5 out 10
