I have a feeling that once they actually show Smaug (more than just an eye or a tail), he's gonna be one bad mofo. Can't wait for the next one!

Willow was freaking great. I loved that movie and have watched it many, many times.

I seem to recall the eagles. However the one handed orc is a new edition. That battle was not in the book.

This was in the appendices. There was a battle but he was actually killed and didnt live on like in the movie. But its hollywood and they needed more villains for this to work and I thought he was pretty good/was a nice addition.

What everyone seems to forget.

Someone bump the threads where people were tearing PJ a new one because he was a money hungry director spitting out 3 movies while the book was only 300 pages.

I was rereading the book in anticipation for the movie, and stopped at pretty much the same part the movie did. (was a little weird)

But yes, this was in the book. They were up in the tree because of the wolves, and the orcs were just getting there because they were going to attack the human town not to far away from them.

Yeah it was pretty much a given that he was going to have to do this which is fine with me seeing as there is some pretty cool stuff in there.

Fact. It was split into 3 movies to grab mo money.

I love lotr but I can't say I would run out to watch an extended edition hobbit.

I liked it but it does have some pacing issues and unlike some, I don't approve of the changes to Thorin. He was an arrogant prick. Deal with it. Don't turn him into some super hero.

No, it was not a given. I don't fault Peter Jackson for doing 3 movies whether its because of Artistic vision or money but The Hobbitt could have been done in 2.

I wanted to punch Galadriel when she was trying to see how slow she could walk around the table at that little meeting in Rivendell.

I thought it was excellent. It was the same formula as LotR and I loved those movies. Plus, Bilbo isn't nearly as annoying as Frodo and Sam.

Wife and some gals went to see Les Mis, I took the boy to see Hobbit. I made the right decision. Wife said Les Mis blew.

I was just talking about having to use the appendices. It would have been virtually impossible not to use them even if it was two movies.

Saw it today in HFR 3D.

Have now seen this, Life of Pi, and Lincoln (seeing Les Mis Saturday) and I have a renewed faith in the movie-going experience. Been a great month for movies!

Digging through the old DVD's to find the old Hobbit animated version. The plates song got me nostalgic for it

I did love the HFR 3D. I disagree with the HFR haters. I thought the night time shots were incredibly clear like nothing I have ever seen.

I am not a fan of 3D but I would pay to see more HFR if it is always that crisp and clear.

I saw it a few weeks ago. I would rate it 8.5/10. I thought it was very good although I may have liked LOTR a little better. Looking forward to the next two movies.

I loved it. As for the added content, I felt that while much of it was unnecessary, that it will prove dividends in the next two installments. I really enjoyed it better than Fellowship.
