It happens, go take a few shots at a target make sure your scope is in and get back out there.

Not scoped.....open sight shotgun with slugs. Should have never took the shot.

Nice 7 or 8 point couldn't tell.

I'll be back this afternoon and in the morning.

Now Question...........

Will I ever see that buck again or is he gone gone down the road?

Also, should I take another stand this afternoon?

bite me.........I'm old.
Never really felt comfortable on the shot. I shot over him for sure. He just laughed and trotted into the thicket. I made 2 real wide circles where I saw him last. no sign no blood no deer.

I can't say anything. I've done worse, on a buck, broadside, sitting completely still, 40 yards, through a scope
It wasnt my rifle and the trigger was really heavy. I hadn't shot it before and I ended up jerking the trigger and missed low. Found nothing but a big hole in the dirt

I went to the same stand that evening at kilt a doe

I missed a very nice 8pt even closer. Got three shots at the sum bitch. I have no idea where the shots hit.

When I got back to the camp I decided to see what was wrong. Got a big ole sign out and tacked some paper to it. Fired three rounds and never hit the paper or the sign. Took it to the gun shop in town to get bore sighted and it wasn't even on the remotely on the grid.

Imo a buck being shot at isn't much different than jumping one when you walk in the woods. Only difference is when they get shot at they don't know where it came from. Just a loud boom.

I thought the same after I missed that one, but I went to the range, pulled the first shot, slowed down, took my time and put 8 shots in a 3" circle dead center. Made me sick.
