Brehan, when their film comes out, you will have a change of heart. Those two WR did well with Foster at QB, and are very capable of getting open and catching footballs for any QB.

Oh, no doubt. I've watched extensive film on both DeSean and Trey, and my post was not discrediting their abilities. I was only saying that because of Fontenot's ability to keep plays alive, his receivers have more time to get open. Although, it does take a smart receiver to have the presence of mind to get open when the play breaks; DeSean and Trey both possess that ability as well.
All I'm saying is that Fontenot was a huge reason for Barbe's success, and the award is well-deserved.

Am I right in thinkin the all-state team was picked before the state finals?
That's what I'm thinking happened. I think if they picked after, it might have been Williams.
Pure numbers, it's Fontenot in a landslide, by the way. Not only were his passing yards double that of Williams, his rushing yards were pretty comparable.
As far as his injury, I think that can be seen as a reason why he didn't get MVP, not a reason why he should have gotten it. Because of his injury holding down his production, Fontenot had the better, more productive season all told.
I love Williams though.

Another thing I'd add is I really think Williams had to carry less of the total load for his offense than Fontenot.
Sure, Smith and Quinn are great, bu Carter and Dunbar ain't bad.
And Rummel O-line>Barbe oline
And Rummel RB>Barbe RB, although I liked Barbe's RB, he was more of a slot receiver coming out of the backfield at about 150 pounds sopping wet.
In one sense, that hurt Williams numbers vs. Fontnoet. On the other hand, Fontenot carried such a huge burden because of that. He didn't get protected particularly well and there was no power running game. They had the best offens in the state simply because he could run around and throw to great receivers. But the key was, he could run around.
I think you plug Kennon into Rummel's offense and he does as well as Williams. But if you plug Williams into Barbe's offense, he doesn't do as well as Fontenot.
So they made the right choice.
I agree on Roth though. I think Roth should get it if, for no other reason, Rummel went unbeaten in the regular season and beat some quality challengers and Barbe was sort of out-coached for a night in a loss to STM when STM kept pulling things off like faked punts and onsides kicks and all that. Roth should have won.
