Opened a new bottle today. High West 21 yr Rye.

My review: Damn this shite is good!

The bad news is it is a 375 ml bottle and it probably won't last long.

The good news is I have a backup bottle.

Where'd you find this? BX?.

Is that the bottle with the tacky "rare" label across it??

Yes, I got it on BX. It almost sucks that I like it so much because I know how hard it will be to find again without paying through the nose.

Not worried about the sticky. This thread will be permanently in the first page top 5 in about a month.
This will be my second bourbon rodeo, and I'm already planning on cashing in my savings bonds.

I'm relatively new to the bourbon scene. I haven't frequented the FD board much but I wish I would have found this thread earlier. I'll eventually read the entire thing. I've learned a lot in the short time I've been following.

On glass 3 or 4 of Evan Williams 1783 for the night. Wife went out for an employee's birthday, so I watched Return of the King with the kids and sipped on some whiskey. Such an underrated bourbon, imo. It's my daily drinker because I'm on a budget.

Do you guys always drink bourbon neat? Most of the time I do but lately I've been dropping one ice cube and boy the notes just explode in my mouth.

I drink expensive bourbon neat to force me to linger (I'm a quick drinker and will drain drinks that don't force me to sip). Cheap bourbon (like aforementioned EW 1783), I take with a couple of cubes of ice.

I wish it were because I had a few drinks...sadly just a typo.

I usually have them neat. Just depends on what it is. I generally always try it for the first time neat and go from there. If I add ice I add some crushed slivers to the glen glass...let it melt...then drink.

For instance im having some EHT BP now...with a little ice. I did the neat from the bottle/flask thing before...and it was a rough

500 is withing reach

Not sure on the time of year, we might need to do some research...
